After i came back from Wanderlust I had a day back in the city / home / rat race. It was a good day, I had coffee with Tara and gymed and napped and relaxed. But I was in no way shape or form ready to come back to 'reality' just yet. The next afternoon (because we are both pretty good at procrastinating and ended up playing GTA which is incredibly fun by the way) my boyfriend and I packed a car with enough to last us for three days and we drove up north. These are the photos that document it.

We first headed to Wenderholm which is just outside of Orewa. Its one of my favourite little camping grounds. We had burgers for dinner from Kingcockle in Orewa which makes a damn fine burger that I'd been thinking about for a few months. So it was kind of a must. We stayed there one night and drank cider. The next morning we had spaghetti on toast, climbed a half sunken tree and relaxed before heading off further north to Tawharanui. Tawharanui was beautiful with a large camping ground right next to the beach. We went to sleep listening to the waves. We watched the sun set from a hill. We saw sting rays in the ocean. we attempted to take photos of the stars at 3am. and we got some damn good tans. We stayed there for two nights and on the morning we left we took one last dip in the ocean. It was magic.

I love camping so much. The whole process of getting away from your day to day life and just being outside in nature. its really grounding and reconnecting. I had work the day we came back from camping and it left me feeling really chill and calm. Thats a feeling I would love to have ALL THE FREAKIN TIME. But really, if I didn't know the opposite how can I truly appreciate it?

With my photo journals I'm attempting to capture different moments of a journey / adventure so that you can experience it to some degree and maybe feel inspired to create your own moments of magic :) Some of these photos were taken by Luke, le boyf.
